A static website will generally provide consistent, standard information for an extended period of time. They are normally attached to relevant information towards it own, only they express a specific point of view or points of interest set by the sites owner. Although the website owner may make updates periodically, it is a manual process to edit the text and content and may require basic website design skills and software (Wikepedia, 2009).
In summary, visitors are not able to control what information they receive via a static website, and must instead settle for whatever content the website owner has decided to offer at that time on that subject. This may be of use to students as it could possibly outline the specifics of the websites topic or related information, remembering though, it is a point of view or the beliefs of that sites owning body.
Businesses or people with a topic of interest may create a Static Website to use as a brochure for showcasing purposes, i found an interesting link talking on the pros and cons of Blog v Static Websites http://www.growyourwritingbusiness.com/?p=224, it explains how and why people would use such a thing.

Video and learning.
Hey guys,
When i think of video in my schooling i think of the "Round the Twist" t.v series and the half an hour we got to do nothing... Were we engaged? Most definitely, because it was something of interest.
Educational video has been, and still is a central resource for instruction, i can still remember word for word the credits for "Round the Twist". Video presents visual and audio presentation simultaneously, making it easier to reach students who learn through different learning styles. Their is growing research supporting the pedagogical significance to video as a tool in the classroom(Cruse, 2007). Video can be used as a reflective tool, if i strole around practical cooking classes i can record students work ereas to show later on, through class discussion, where they could have been more organised.

Interactive WhiteBoards are used in many schools as replacements for traditional white boards or flip charts. They provide ways to show students anything which can be presented on a computer's desktop (educational software, web sites, and others).
The boards give students the opportunity to interact and engage in their learning environment, in a sense the same way we used to on a blackboard, only with a the wealth of information the Internet supplies as apposed to a text book. Students need to be engaged in what they are learning to achieve positive learning outcomes, these boards allow direct involvement and interaction, Vygostsky's theories of guided discovery emphasise the importance of this in learners acquiring understanding (Mclnerney, Mclnerney, 2006).
In any case, the person holding the textbook had to have the knowledge to deliver it, the same way current teachers need to be able to deliver it through learnt technologies. this is a great link to see these being used

Learning Management Systems... (LMS)
Hello to you all,
Honestly, i had never even heard of something like this, looking into it i have discovered i am actually involved in a few of them. Blackboard for 1, the amazing (LMS) that houses all that information that is deemed critical to us by CQU. Learning Management systems, structure content for more manageable for users eg. teachers collaboratively working over different campuses as well as students of different courses accessing the same requirements.
LMS provide a great base to hold information, and to provide it in a structured manner. Seen as a delivery or housing tool, e.g blackboard, is very user friendly and provides a wealth of information supplied by CQU for the use of students as well as links to task or topic related material.Siemens (2004) writes that teaching knowledge/comprehension-based subjects benefit from a structured approach, they are more effective if the content that is highly structured.
In my limited time using these systems, i think they are fantastic to work with, reading Siemens (2004) article on Learning Management Systems has widen my thoughts of possibilities and makes me look forward to what will be possible within them if orientated more around personal needs.
A LMS could be used as a structured community of your personal experiences, thoughts, and could hold all your information and files in one manageable area, like a extensive on-line resume?

I have a sense of ease when a PowerPoint presentation is used, as it allows me to interpret the information in my own mind for myself, before or after the presenter explains its purpose.
PowerPoint is a visual tool that can be used to help support and deliver presentations and lessons material. Quite simple to set up, you can up load Mp3, photos, and record voice overs as well as create engaging backgrounds with the tools provided. You can upload them to networking sights or to the net for world wide comments on your creation. Power points can be saved and re-used, you can access it locally for any changes or transfer to use on the web through any USB device. Being based in technology, the pitfalls of this tool is technical difficulties. Crossing programs or using different ICT's can be a drama, so make sure you look into this before your presentation. Piaget(2006) emphasises that learners should be actively engaged to learn, providing visual with audio, stimulates absorption of information, encouraging understandings towards learning outcomes (Costa, 2001).
Using this tool as a presenter can improve communication effectiveness, audiences perception of the presenter and improve the speakers confidence. It is a perfect way to reinforce information.

e-Portfolio's

Creating my own e-Portfolio has been engaging to say the least. After a lot of time wasted and countless new passwords and user names, i am now working my way through Mahara slowly but surely.
The amount of free usable space is great, i spoke in another blog (LMS) about the possibilities of using a site that housed all your files in the one place for access like a on-line personal resume, this is possible using e-portfolio. A e-portfolio is a structured program that allows you to manage your files, you can use this tool to present or showcase progress made in learning. Students can access stored information at any time for referal to their topic, allowing them to develope and manage interesting or valuable resources.
When student projects are put up on the web, this provides an incentive for them to do the best possible work, since they know that their work will be viewed by their classmates and possibly the whole world. It also provides an easily accessible source to show their work to friends, co-workers, or potential employers (Kearsley, Shneiderman, 1999).

Students can take part in discussions about there topic anytime anywhere while sourcing information on the task through other ICT's to fuel their involvement towards group discussions. This is relevant in theory to Sternberg’s Triarchic Intelligences (Mclnerney, Mclnerney, 2006, pg 75),encouraging students to explore and create a wider collaborative learning environment, through optimizing opportunities.
Perhaps the best example of a Wiki in action today is Wikipedia,the free encyclopedia. It is important to keep in mind that due to the open nature of the site not all information can be taken as fact. This in itself can be used as a learning tool to decipher the fact from fiction toward a topic.
